Epic Reading Project book #12

Oh my god.

Oh. My. God.

This book. This book is possibly one of the most cartoonishly terrible books I have ever read. I would be sure this book was actually a satire of terrible scifi, except that it’s so damn sincere. It is earnestly terrible. Every crappy B-movie scifi trope you can think of is in this book. This book is so bad that I live-tweeted it.

You want manic pixie dream girl sidekicks who are literal pixies? This book’s got ’em.

You want a muscle-bound, stoic white male protagonist with the emotional range of a teaspoon and an unfailing libido and a fondness for strip clubs? This book’s got one.

You want a completely useless damsel in distress who goes through fifteen different emotions on one page, claims to be competent and then loses all of that and starts wringing her hands at the first sign of trouble? Then this is the book for you.

You wanna see a dictionary-definition fridging of the pixie sidekick? You wanna see her literally murdered for the sole and exclusive purpose of causing Mr Teaspoon Feelings to have a Man Feel? Hie thee to the pages of this book.

Also it’s set on Mars and Mr Teaspoon Feelings is, like, the hero of prophecy who will conquer and rule Mars or some shit.

If you are vastly entertained by being outraged at hilariously terrible books or movies, you should absolutely read this book. It is horrifically awful in the best possible way. I rate it -5 stars out of 5. So bad that it circles back around to good, then passes good and ends up again at bad.
